LUMIÈRES D’ITALIE

The historiated majolica of Urbino in the 1530s.

This exhibition, held at the Aveline Gallery, paid tribute to the discovery or rediscovery of the artist known as the "Painter of the Marsyas of Milan," a major figure of the Italian Renaissance in the art of painting on majolica. During this presentation, an important collection of painted majolica works created in the Duchy of Urbino in the 1530s was showcased, leading to the publication of an unprecedented monograph written by GRETA KAUCHER, The Painter of the Marsyas of Milan - Painted Majolica in Urbino in the 1530s, published by Camille Leprince and Justin Raccanello at Feu & Talent. In this work, she offers an exhaustive catalogue of the artist’s oeuvre, providing visitors with a thorough insight into this exquisite and often overlooked art.
